It is the mission of the Tuscumbia Police Department to work with our citizens to preserve life, reduce crime, protect property, protect the civil rights of our
citizens and employees and promote individual responsibility and community commitment. This will be accomplished while striving for a Standard of
Excellence in Policing.
Message from Police Chief Tony Logan
Thank you for your interest in the Tuscumbia Police
Department’s web page. The City of Tuscumbia continues to be
part of an elite group of police departments in the United States
to be deemed one of the safest cities in the country. The low
crime rate and excellent schools systems and city services is
accomplished through partnerships with the community, other
law enforcement and service providers and the Tuscumbia Police
Department. Our Mayor and City Council understand and
support how important good public safety is to the growth and
development of our city.
I would encourage you to visit Tuscumbia, a city rich in history and tradition. From the beautiful Big Spring and Spring Park which is the center point of the city and much of the history of native Americans in this country. Big Spring is one of the largest fresh water springs in the country providing water and beauty to the citizens of our city. The birthplace of Helen Keller, the first lady of courage to excellent recreation and festivals Tuscumbia is a great place to visit and to live.
Our department currently has over 30 officers and civilian staff. The department has numerous divisions and units to better serve the community. The administration, investigative division, administrative support division, and patrol division. The patrol division supports the uniformed patrol, bicycle patrol, special operations, traffic control and education, hazardous devices, school resource programs, gang suppression, and marine patrol and crime scene investigations. The administrative support division includes the training division, jail, communications, and community services division. The investigative division includes white collar, juvenile, domestic violence, crimes against person and property and narcotics investigation in association with the Colbert County Drug Task Force.
Each employee of the Tuscumbia Police Department is committed to attaining the goals of being the best trained department in the state, and attaining the status of the one of the safest cities in the nation.
